Macy’s Adds Changing Table to Men’s Room After Frustrated Dad Complains

I have to admit, I feel a bubble of irritation rising in my chest when I hear about dads that refuse to change their kids’ diapers. *COUGH* Matthew McConaughey *COUGH* Will Ferrell *COUGH* Tarek El Moussa of Flip or Flop. However, when I hear of establishments that don’t have changing tables for dads who DO change diapers? That takes the irritation to a whole other level.

Enter Maryland dad Anthony Dew, who was trying to get some Christmas shopping done with his four-month-old son, Jeremiah, in tow. As they walked into the Macy’s store at The Mall of Prince Georges, little Jeremiah became fussy because — you guessed it — he had a dirty diaper. After searching EVERY floor for a changing table in the men’s rooms to no avail, Dew grew understandably frustrated and went home without spending a dime.

At which point, he wrote a letter (yes! a letter — not a Tweet or a Facebook post, but a good, old-fashioned letter!) to Macy’s chairman and CEO Terry Lundgren on behalf of all fathers who just need access to changing stations.

Boom! The letter did the trick.

Not only is there a new changing station now, but there is also a renovated men’s room to provide a more pleasant place for dads to change kids. Macy’s also gave him a gift card to apologize for the inconvenience.

Well-done, Dad. One Macy’s brought into this century! Only 849 or so to go.
