How to Make a Dirty Girl Scout Drink

I selected this week’s drink as a tribute to one of my favorite holidays, St. Patrick’s Day.  I’m sure you all have it marked on your calendars with a big “WOO-HOO!” like I do.  My husband and I celebrated St. Patty’s Day in Dublin years ago — one of our “Things to Do Before Having a Baby” that we checked off the list (and added to our “Things to Do AGAIN When We Retire” list) — and, although my mom claims I’m a mutt, I knew I had found my people when I partied with the Irish.

I cannot condone drinking anything except Guinness or Jameson on the actual holiday.  But for those who aren’t — GASP! — beer fans…?  A green drink is appropriate enough, I think.  (And I should know, being an honorary Irishwoman and all.)  So I present to you…

THE DIRTY GIRL SCOUT (Also known as: a drink that tastes way better than it looks)

INGREDIENTS

* 1 oz.  Baileys Irish Cream (I substituted the Mint Chocolate variety because I’m crazy like that)
* 1/2 oz.  Creme de Menthe (green)
* 1 oz.  Kahlúa
* 1 oz.  Vodka

INSTRUCTIONS

Even us ladies afflicted with Mommy Brain can handle this one:   Mix all ingredients in cocktail shaker and pour over ice in glass of your choice:  highball, martini, sippy cup, what-have-you.

Again, don’t judge the drink by its puke-green cover.  Nine out of ten partygoers agree its dee-lish. Word of warning:  It tastes yummy, but it can creep up on you. Sláinte!
