In the midst of the craziness of motherhood, sometimes all we need is the distraction of pretty pictures of a prince and his princess-to-be to admire and make us feel better. This is one of those times.
Behold Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s official engagement portraits. How cute are they? And a sheer dress! Surprised the shock of that didn’t knock the fascinator right off the Queen’s head.
Yeah, they look slightly in love. Just slightly.
The couple, who announced their engagement last month, are set to marry on May 19th (party ideas to come…not that I’m obsessed or had a scrapbook of Charles and Diana’s wedding when I was a little girl or anything) in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, west of London. These photos, shot by Alex Lubomirski, were released a day after the pair joined the Queen and the rest of the royal family for Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace. I’m sure they just put out a spread of deli meats or called for Papa John’s, like many families do for lunch.
The couple will soon head off to spend Christmas at Sandringham, the monarchy’s winter estate. Harry received permission from his grandmother to bring Markle with him, breaking with tradition that had allowed non-royal members only after they had already married into the family. Queen Elizabeth’s getting soft in her old age!
Markle is expected to attend Christmas morning service at St. Mary Magadalene Church with Harry and his relatives. Spending all of Christmas with her future in-laws — she’s a keeper, Harry!
